Residents and team members from Givens Aldersgate recently came together to support a cause that impacts millions of individuals and families, participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s Charlotte alongside more than 2,000 community members in downtown Charlotte.
Led by Leanne Skipper, Director of Philanthropy for the Givens Foundation at Givens Aldersgate, residents and team members gathered at 9 a.m. in Romare Bearden Park to join families, caregivers, healthcare professionals, volunteers, and advocates united in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the Alzheimer’s Association’s largest fundraising and awareness event, bringing communities together to honor those affected by dementia while supporting research, education, advocacy, and care programs. Throughout the Charlotte region, the Alzheimer’s Association provides valuable resources and support services that help individuals and families navigate the challenges associated with memory loss and caregiving.
Through its sponsorship of the Alzheimer’s Association, Givens Communities helps support vital research, educational opportunities, community resources, and programs that benefit individuals living with dementia and those who care for them. These partnerships reflect Givens’ commitment to enhancing the well-being of older adults and strengthening the communities it serves.
“Participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s was a meaningful experience for our residents and team members,” said Skipper. “It was inspiring to stand alongside so many people who are committed to raising awareness, supporting families, and advancing research that brings hope for the future.”
For many participants, the event was an opportunity to honor loved ones affected by Alzheimer’s disease while connecting with others who share a commitment to making a difference. The walk serves as a powerful reminder of the impact community support can have in advancing care, resources, and research.
This year marked the first time Givens Aldersgate participated as a sponsoring attendee in the Charlotte Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The experience highlighted the importance of community partnerships and reinforced Givens’ dedication to supporting organizations that improve the lives of older adults and their families.
