
Julia McCoy Scholarship 2025 Recipients Announced
The Julia McCoy Scholarship Committee, comprised of Givens Communities Human Resources and Philanthropy Department team members, have announced the 2025 recipients.
The scholarship was created to honor the former Training and Development Director who retired in April 2023 and remains known for her dedication, passion and drive for excellence in training, education and professional development. McCoy’s dedication for personal and professional growth made a lasting impact on Givens Communities. She oversaw compliance training modules, supported creation of a Nurse Aide training program, provided numerous departmental specific training, facilitated annual leadership retreats, and led an LGBTQ+ Committee.

“We are thrilled to be able to provide these scholarships and it is deeply meaningful to us to honor Julia’s legacy in this way and help these deserving individuals further their educational and professional goals,” said Christian Grunder, vice president of Givens Human Resources.
Julia McCoy Scholarships will be presented to:
- Alicia Fleming, Givens Estates WAL LPN Care Coordinator, who is returning to school to pursue her RN with the hopes of being a future Givens Nurse Leader. She will be receiving up to $5,000 for educational needs.
- Charlie Stowe, son of TJ Woods, Givens Estates HVAC Tech, has been accepted to East Tennessee State University Honors Chemistry Program and is interested in pursing pharmaceutical interventions for dementia. He will be receiving up to $5,000 for educational needs.
- MG Mullinex, Givens Estates Dining team member and the daughter of Kelli Mullinex, a pastor with Givens Spiritual Care, plans to pursue environmental science education and will be awarded $1,000 scholarship.
Also, it was announced two team members have been awarded the Givens Educational Assistance Fund, with support of up to $2,000.
- Kaitlyn Roberts, WAL LPN who is pursuing an RN.
- Fernando Rivera, a Givens Estates Dining team member and a culinary degree graduate, is pursuing Hospitality Management Degree and hopes to be future Dining Leader.
