Givens Aldersgate Embraces Charlotte Museum of History
Givens Aldersgate recently came together to celebrate with the Charlotte Museum of History at the annual Gem Awards, an event that honors outstanding historic preservation and history education efforts.
With the museum located on the Givens Aldersgate campus, the gathering was an especially meaningful opportunity for team members to stand alongside a valued community partner and celebrate the impact of preservation efforts throughout the region.
And as a proud museum sponsor, Given Aldersgate is honored to support the mission of saving and sharing history while recognizing projects and people whose work strengthens the community’s cultural and economic vitality.
The Charlotte Museum of History connects the past to present-day issues and opportunities through preservation, education, and public programming. The museum is home to the Alexander Rock House, built circa 1774, listed on the National Register of Historic Places and recognized as a local landmark. The house is the oldest surviving structure in Mecklenburg County and Charlotte’s only remaining building from the Revolutionary War period.
The Charlotte Gem Awards are the Charlotte Museum of History’s premier fundraising event and celebrate restoration projects, preservation initiatives, and educational contributions that exemplify excellence in historic preservation. By shining a light on work that enriches communities culturally and economically, the awards encourage everyone who calls Charlotte home to help preserve the region’s historic built environment.
