From the Pages of Givens Discovery: Opportunity Awaits at 60 Gerber Park

As someone who knows Givens, you are familiar with our beautiful communities across Western North Carolina, where residents enjoy vibrant living and outstanding quality of life.

Givens long-standing mission to enrich the lives of seniors includes those of all income levels. Shifting demographics have the 65+ age population growing dramatically. While many in this age wave have adequate financial resources, the reality is that there are seniors in the “forgotten middle” with incomes exceeding requirements for subsidized affordable housing.

Despite working and saving as much as possible throughout their lifetime, they do not have the resources for a traditional retirement community.

To address the need for moderate income retirement housing, Givens Communities developed 60 Givens Gerber Park, a community for those with annual incomes of $33,781 to $55,000+.

A household’s yearly income determines monthly fees, including rent, utilities, a monthly Café allowance, and supportive services. The community provides social workers and a community nurse who support and advocate for residents, empowering them to age in place in their apartments.

Designed specifically for older adults, 60 Givens Gerber Park features 82 spacious one and two-bedroom rental apartments. The convenient location in the vibrant South Asheville community is within walking distance to grocery stores, restaurants, shopping venues, and public transportation. Amenities include an on-site café, clinic, emergency call system, social programs, library and computer room, fitness center, exercise classes, raised garden beds, and more. The goal is to help residents remain independent and engaged.

Should the need arise for a higher level of care, 60 Gerber Park residents have access to quality skilled nursing at the other Givens’ communities.

If you or someone you know has a moderate income and is interested in living in a Givens’ community, we encourage getting in touch with us at
