“My nursing career has spanned 4 fulfilling decades but now being the Givens LifeMinistries community nurse for our affordable communities is the capstone. The residents have allowed me to become a part of their “family”. I am honored to have their trust and to be able to help them through various rough patches in their lives.

I have truly experienced what some refer to as the art of nursing – giving caring and compassionate care. The residents have taught me much about life as I walk beside them on this path. Each day is a joy to come to work and be a part of their lives.

It is exciting to know that I am paving the way for future nurses in affordable communities and leaving a legacy demonstrating that nursing is more than injections, pills, and wounds but is really about the human connections in life – showing empathy, a kind word, listening. Sometimes just being there is all the medicine that is needed.”
