Leading Age NC Foundation Disaster Relief Fund Open To Givens Staff
In response to the impact of Hurricane Helene, the LeadingAge North Carolina Foundation has launched a Disaster Relief Fund to provide short-term relief to employees of LeadingAge North Carolina member communities who qualify for assistance under the policy.
The deadline for applying for relief funds has been extended to Tuesday, Nov. 5.
Eligibility for supplemental financial assistance as the result of property damage or loss will be based on pre-established criteria and be determined on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis by a committee. Funds will be distributed in three priority levels:
- First priority will be given to employees whose primary residence has sustained damage such that it is not habitable, either permanently or temporarily. Those demonstrating this need will receive assistance of $3,000.
- Second priority will be given to employees whose homes are habitable but sustained damage such that repair is immediately necessary. The assistance amount will be dependent upon estimated cost of repair to make the home safe but will not exceed $1,500 for any individual.
- Third priority will be given to those without adequate insurance coverage who sustained total vehicle damage as the result of Hurricane Helene and subsequently do not have reliable transportation to work. Third priority is also available for assistance with expenses associated with funeral costs for a family member. Those demonstrating a legitimate need will receive assistance of $1,000.
As of Oct. 22, Givens has had 12 team members awarded $19,470. For assistance, contact Givens Communities Human Resources Department.
