Flip the Script on Aging Is Theme for Older Americans Month
May is Older Americans Month, a time to recognize the many contributions that older adults make in the community, reaffirm commitments to providing services and support to seniors, and include their voices in community planning.
Each May, the Administration for Community Living leads the nation in recognizing Older Americans Month and chooses the theme. The 2025 theme is “Flip the Script on Aging” which focuses on changing how society perceives, talks about, and approaches aging.
The theme encourages individuals and communities to challenge stereotypes and dispel misconceptions, which aligns with Givens Communities vision of Endless Possibilities, Vibrant Aging, and a mission of Creating Community, Empowering Lives.
“Positive perspectives on aging opens up possibilities that benefit all age brackets and demographics,” said Geoffrey Cantrell, public relations director for Givens Communities. “Seniors engage fully in workplaces, volunteer efforts and actively contribute daily to their communities. That is an advantage for everyone.”
Givens Communities provides more than four walls and a roof to residents. The four campuses of Givens Estates in Asheville, Givens Highland Farms in Black Mountain, Givens Great Laurels in Waynesville and Givens Gerber Park in south Asheville offer rich and meaningful experiences and support services that empower residents to maintain independence.
