Givens Communities Builds Strength, Increases Effectiveness Through Leadership
Dear Residents and Team Members,
Earlier this year, David Smith accepted the responsibility of serving as the Givens Estates Interim Executive Director, when John Cowan announced his retirement. Over the past several months, David has shown his ability to effectively build teams while also providing strong leadership. Through this process, we have identified many strengths that David possesses, and have extended to him the opportunity to provide leadership in a new position as the Vice President of Facility Services and Construction.
We believe this position will be advantageous to David’s strengths, and our organization will benefit from his knowledge, skillset, innovation, and leadership. This position would oversee the operations of Maintenance, Grounds, Environmental Services, Safety and Security, and construction projects for Givens Communities.
Givens Communities values the growth and development of our internal talent and are delighted to see David’s continued growth within our organization. Please join us in congratulating David on this exciting opportunity.
We are also pleased to announce that after a competitive search process to find a new Executive Director, we are happy to share the news that Kirsten Cone has accepted the position. Kirsten has served as the Program Director of CarePartners PACE and Private Duty Services most recently. Kirsten has worked in communities such as Choice Health Management, Kisco Senior Living, Valencia Terrace and Heritage Greens. Kirsten holds a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy and a master’s degree in business administration. She served on the inaugural advisory board for the International Council on Active Aging. Currently, Kirsten serves on the advisory board for Kisco Senior Living.
We are excited for Kirsten to bring her energy and vision to the Givens Estates campus. Kirsten is deeply enthusiastic about working with older adults and is excited to work in a position where she has a strong purpose and can collaborate with residents and team members.
During this transitional period, David will remain the Interim Executive Director until Kirsten assumes the role. Kirsten is expected to join us in January 2024, and we aim to fully transition David to his new position by February 2024.
We feel honored to be making these transitions as Givens Communities continues to evolve and enhance its services.
Kevin Schwab
