Givens Communities Presents Age Friendly Summit
Givens Communities served as the presenting sponsor of the recent Buncombe County Age Friendly Summit, a full-day event dedicated to promoting healthy aging and enhancing quality of life for older adults across Western North Carolina.

The summit brought together community leaders, healthcare professionals, and local organizations to share knowledge, resources, and strategies that support individuals as they age. Through keynote presentations and breakout sessions, the event focuses on topics such as wellness, brain health, community engagement, and the importance of “health span” — ensuring that individuals not only live longer but maintain a high quality of life throughout those years.

As part of the program, several leaders from Givens Communities contributed their expertise and perspective. Speakers included Kirsten Cone, Executive Director at Givens Estates; Joey Abel, Community Impact Director; and Taryn Tindall, Longevity and Brain Health Director. Their presentations highlighted the importance of building thriving communities, fostering connection, and supporting healthy aging across the region.

The summit provided an opportunity for collaboration and learning, reinforcing the shared commitment among regional organizations to create environments where older adults can live fully and independently.
