Givens Communities participated in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Association of Asheville and Buncombe County’s Scholarship Awards program on June 1, hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne University Asheville.

Scholarships totaling $50,000 were presented to 15 students to support their collegiate goals. Each candidate for a scholarship had to demonstrate how they emulate “the Dream” and teachings of Dr. King by:

• Exhibiting concern for disadvantaged or oppressed people
• Participation in community, civic or school affairs
• Promoting community betterment
• Demonstrating academic success in high school
