
Retirement Planning Event For Asheville Area Residents
The Asheville-Buncombe County Black Elders group will host a quarterly meeting on July 23, from noon until 2 p.m. with the topic of retirement planning.
The event will be held at 200 College Street with free parking available in the parking deck. Guests may arrive at 11:30 a.m. to talk with friends, community organizations and network. Lunch will be provided.
A collaborative effort devoted to improving the lives of older Black adults in the Asheville area, Asheville-Buncombe County Black Elders is a part of the larger Age-Friendly Buncombe County initiative, which aims to create a community where older adults are safe, well, and engaged. The project focuses on various aspects of senior well-being, including:
- Ensuring access to safe and affordable housing options for aging in place.
- Promoting access to healthcare and addressing health disparities.
- Creating opportunities for older adults to connect with each other and participate in community life.
- Supporting older adults’ financial well-being.
- Working to prevent abuse, neglect, and exploitation of vulnerable older adults.
